Our tips for making the most of the 3 Vallées
Download the official 3 Vallées app
The 3 Vallées app will help you explore the ski area and ensure you don’t miss the must-see attractions, fun zones and legendary viewpoints, as well as restaurants and picnic areas.
In summer, it also lets you see which ski lifts are open.
Set off early to enjoy the best conditions
The early hours of the morning often offer the best skiing conditions: freshly groomed slopes, good-quality snow and less crowded lifts. It’s also the best time to head to the other valleys before the crowds arrive.
Plan your route in advance
With over 600 km of slopes, it’s easy to waste time travelling between them. Before you set off, identify the areas you’d like to explore and check the lift timetables to avoid having to rush back at the end of the day.
Adapt your route to the weather
Depending on the conditions, some valleys are more pleasant than others. In windy conditions or when visibility is poor, opt for the wooded areas of Méribel or Courchevel. In fine weather, enjoy the exceptional panoramic views from Val Thorens or the Cime Caron.
Choose accommodation close to the slopes
Staying near the ski lifts saves you precious time every morning and makes it easy to get back after a day’s skiing.
Our apartments in Méribel-Mottaret and Courchevel La Tania offer quick access to the 3 Vallées ski area, including many ski-in/ski-out properties.
Book your mountain-top restaurants
The most popular restaurants are often fully booked during the school holidays. Remember to book a few days in advance if you’d like to have lunch on a mountain terrace or try out a must-visit restaurant.
Avoid last-minute returns
If you’re skiing in another valley, set off for home early enough. Some ski lifts close in the middle of the afternoon, so it’s best to allow plenty of time to get back to your resort without any stress.
